The clients being great travellers, bon vivants and followers of all things Art and Design, requested us to create a heritage response that explores time, motion and space that push boundaries and evoke poetic and phenomenological responses.
We transformed the 2-level heritage worker’s home, with outhouse, into a contemporary 3-level home with 3 beds, 3 baths, living, rumpus, dining, theatre room, cellar, study and 2 car garage. Whilst working within the framework of the burra charter, we juxtaposed clear geometry with modern monolithic materiality, to shock one into perceiving the strength and beauty, and to celebrate, the existing historical fabric.
Shortlisted in Woollahra’s Heritage Awards.
