Alterations to a ground level unit in a coastal apartment block. The client’s emotional brief being ‘minimal yet interesting’. Prioritising a fluid space that was in line with ideas of raw coastal materials and ‘erosion’ to be absorbed into a spatial context. The functional brief was to strip back forms to natural elements, creating drama and depth through a complex yet subtle material mix, highlighting interdependency between forms. use of string wallpaper, mixed timbers, ’glow in the dark’ laminates, translucent glazing and concealed lighting.
